Justin Bieber’s millions of female fans would surely give almost anything to meet him, but dozens may have walked past him this weekend in Arlington and not even known it.
Accompanied by his girlfriend, actress-singer Selena Gomez, the 17-year-old international pop/R&B superstar visited Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday and The Parks at Arlington mall Monday, according to several sources. They were also photographed leaving Pappasito’s Cantina.
Gomez, 18, is a Grand Prairie native, which may help explain the visit. Celebrity gossip websites speculated that she might have brought Bieber home to meet her family.
Six Flags spokeswoman Sharon Parker said park officials didn’t know Bieber justbeats and Gomez were coming until they showed up.
Park security officers “tried to accommodate them as best they could,” Parker said.
“From what I hear, it was a really short visit,” she said. “They were in and out.”
During the similarly unannounced trip to the mall, Bieber and Gomez attracted little notice, at least at first. Photos posted on various blogs show them strolling alone except for a plainclothes security guard accompanying them.
“They appeared to come and go without many people knowing they were there,” said Debbie Martinez, mall marketing director. She said she later learned of the visit after receiving Google alerts set up with the mall’s name.
The pair stopped by Lids Locker Room, where by that time word had gotten out that they were in the building.
Manager Carlos Perez, who was on duty, said he couldn’t remember what Bieber shopped for because the store suddenly got crowded.
“I helped him, but mostly I was trying to clear everybody out,” Perez said.
